Glossary of Industry Terms


Frac Tank – 21,000-gallon tank for on-site storage of fluids. Also known as: mobile storage tank, portable tank, Baker Tank, Rhino Tank, Rain-for-Rent Tank, E-Tank

Vac Box – usually a 25-yard capacity roll-off container capable of withstanding vacuum for loading of material using a vacuum truck. Also known as: vacuum box, vacuum container, vacuum roll-off, vac

Sludge Box – usually a 25-yard capacity roll-off container equipped with a gasketed gate for storage and transportation of sludges. Most containers have canvas covers but containers featuring metal lids offer an increased margin of safety. Also known as: roll-off, sludge container, sealed-gate roll-off, sealed-gate sludge box, vapor-tight roll-off

Dewatering Box – frequently a 25-yard capacity roll-off container equipped with steel mesh screens to facilitate dewatering of sludges, clarification of liquids and phase separation of various compounds. Also known as: phase separator, de-watering container, de-watering box.
