Gas Station Replaces Underground Storage Tanks

One call to E-Tank and E-Pump put our experts to work, assisting in selecting the right equipment combination and providing a complete solution.

Environmental Contractors that remove or replace underground storage tanks require specialized expertise in dealing with the contaminated groundwater that is commonly encountered during the excavation process. On this gas station project, E-Tank’s customer needed to rent liquid storage tanks, industrial pumps, and specialized filtration equipment to properly handle the contamination that was revealed when they excavated underground storage tanks that had been leaking for years. Petroleum-impacted water discovered during the excavation needed to be removed and treated.

One call to E-Tank and E-Pump put our experts to work, assisting in selecting the right rental equipment combination and providing a complete solution. Our installation technicians assisted in assembling an effective system that pumped the water into two 21,000 gallon Rental Tanks, using a Dry Prime Pump. As the water was pumped out of the cavity, it was processed through an array of filters. The filtration process included a six-bag sediment filtration unit using 50-micron filter socks. The water was then pumped through a carbon filtration system composed of a 500 lb carbon filter and a 1000 lb carbon filter. This system treated the water so effectively that the contractor was permitted to discharge the effluent to the municipal collection system.
