Pipeline Integrity Hydrotest


E-Tank’s project design specialists and technical service crew worked together with the contractor project engineers and site workers to deliver a custom-calibrated and highly technical solution for a challenging situation.

E-Tank’s customer is a construction company with a challenging pumping problem. Their project required cleaning and inspection of six miles of 20” pipeline. The scope of work demanded that they launch a series of inspection gauges through the pipeline to clean the internal walls and monitor structural integrity for hairline fractures. This process required a designed flow rate of 1900 gpm AND a target pressure of at least 250 psi; operating conditions that exceed the capabilities of most rental pumps. The customer believed the solution would require a specially designed pumping system and professional installation.

E-Tank applied extensive knowledge in hydraulic system design and created a pump performance model that simulated the operating conditions of three 6” high-pressure pumps staged in a series configuration. This design, combined with the proper hose and piping selection, allowed the operator to achieve the elevated pressure requirements and at the same time, meet the target flow rate.
